Dental Crowns in Leixlip

Broken, decayed, or heavily filled teeth can be restored using crowns. Crowns provide stability, prevent cracking, and blend seamlessly with your natural teeth.

At Riverforest Dental, we prioritise using top-quality materials and collaborating with skilled dental laboratories. Additionally, we have invested in advanced technology, including the Cerec machine, enabling us to produce and fit a crown in a single visit.

The Cerec machine utilizes 3D imaging software to create an accurate model of your teeth. Using computer-aided design (CAD) software, the machine sculpts the crown from a ceramic block that matches your tooth color. The milling process takes only minutes, followed by tooth preparation and permanent crown placement during the same appointment.

For a natural look and durability, full ceramic crowns are recommended. They offer excellent aesthetics, biocompatibility, and do not interfere with future dental treatments. Like natural teeth, crowns require proper care. Regular brushing with fluoride toothpaste, daily flossing, and routine check-ups with professional cleanings are essential to maintain their longevity and prevent decay at the restoration’s edges.

Had a bad toothache on 27th December. Checked around Dental clinics in the area and even though I had not been there previously River Forest Dental clinic gave me an appointment. From the first phone call the staff were friendly, professional and welcoming.I attended the clinic the following day and had the matter dealt with on a temporary basis. When the problem cleared up I went back and had the tooth removed. All in all it was a positive experience and I could not complain about the treatment I received from the minute I walked in the front door. Well dine all and thanks very much.

I had a dental issue a couple of days before travelling for holidays and Dr. Browne personally ensured I was looked after before travelling and had a replacement crown made and fitted in time so that I could enjoy my break without worrying about my tooth. The entire team at River Forest Dental are wonderful and I can't recommend them highly enough.

Thank you Riverforest dental for seeing me so quickly when I was in pain last week although I have never been your patient. The dentist I had been seeing is quite far away and I have been looking for somewhere new. I just so happened to get in to RF dental because I suddenly found myself in a bad way with unmanageable jaw pain and they were so kind...the receptionist, the nurse who done the scan and the dentist himself. I look forward to following through with the treatment plan provided.

I would like to highly recommend this practice- I have always had a fear of dentists since my childhood. I have attended dentists over the years mainly on a need to go basis and not regularly to my regret - my fear seemed to escalate as I got older-Dr Miriam is wonderful - she is warm and sets you at ease immediately- there is no judgement- Jo her dental nurse also is attentive and reassuring - I had a lot of work over a period of a couple of months and felt no anxiety after my 1st attendance. There was no pain whatsoever!Muriel on reception is the first friendly face when you enter the practice - she chats to you and takes an interest from that 1st meetingSo for any of those who have a fear of attending the dentist - this practice is the oneMany thanks to all the team - Barbararead more

Frequently Asked Questions

The reasons are varied:
  • Tooth has become weak due to presence of large filling
  • Patient wishes to improve look of a tooth
  • Protection of a root filling
  • To repair a tooth that has been damaging by an accident
  • To assist in keeping a denture or a bridge in place
Your dentist will remove the outer surface of the tooth. The remaining inner core will then be shaped. A number of impressions of both the prepared tooth, the opposite jaw and one to indicate your bite if required.
The Crown will be prepared by a skilled dental technician. This technician will work with any impressions that have been prepared by your dentist. A technician will also refer to any other information available relating to your teeth. This information will then be used to create a detailed model of your mouth. This model is used to prepare the finished Crown to ensure it fits your mouth perfectly.
No. The technician will ensure that every aspect of the new Crown, including its shade and shape is designed to fit your mouth perfectly and matches your other teeth. You will be provided with a temporary crown after your first appointment. Whilst this may be more noticeable, it will only be in place for approximately two weeks. Once the finished Crown is in place it will not be noticeable.
No. The process is like that of a filling. We use a local anaesthetic in most case. However, if there is no nerve present in the tooth then an anaesthetic may not necessarily be required.
The process of preparing, creating impressions, matching shade and fitting the finishing Crown will require at least two visits to the practice.
As with all aspects of your dental health, should you look after it well it will have a longer life. The Crown will not decay but they areas where the tooth joins the Crown are prone to decay and will require regular cleaning. If you care for your oral health you should see a Crown last for many years. Your dental hygienist can advise you further when it comes to looking after your oral hygiene.
Your dentist will use a dental cement which will create a seal to hold your Crown securely in place.
You should not feel any discomfort but if you do this can be adjusted by your dentist. When the Crown is first fitted in your mouth you may be aware of a slight difference but you will adapt to the feeling of the new crown within a day or two.

We can discuss alternatives with you. You do have the option of choosing a veneer as an alternative to having an anterior crown.
